40 Day Soul/Physical Fast Detoxify (English)

Matt.6:1-18

Purpose: Deeper intimacy with the Lord and Knowledge of Gods Will. Obtain a healthy soul, body & mind, so, that we will continue to run to win! I want to help you “Run to win!” in life (1 Cor. 9:24) God’s people must “ lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” (Heb. 12:1 NKJV).

The Soul & Physical 40 day fast; is to Transform your inner life so that you can truly live authentically; teach you how to discipline your physical bodies and to line up your will with God’s will. Most people, even believing Christians, don’t give the Word of God much mind. They go through life so engrossed and pre-occupied with what is convenient that they miss what is truly valuable and necessary----and as a result, they stay on the road going nowhere, building their life on air rather than on a sturdy bed of rocks. Jesus taught: “Whoever hears these saying of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to be to a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matt. 7:24 NKJV) & to transform our minds and lives according to Romans 12:1-2. Also (See list of approved foods. Recipes will be provided). The Fast will start on Monday_______, and will end on ________ at 6pm starting with prayer, reading God’s Word in the areas of need and exercise 5 days or more daily.

Guidelines for Proper Fasting

Have the Faith to be Happy, healthy and in control of your life. I have often prayed and still praying that God would use me in His will and GospelCise Ministries Fitness to help change you and our churches to be a healthier place; that Christians would strive daily towards a healthy spirit mind and body in the Power of the Holy Spirit.   Theme of the fast: The 40 DAY Soul & Physical Fast: Your goal in fasting is to become closer to God by voluntarily denying the demands of your flesh. Increase your prayer life during this time. Study the Scriptures with a new intensity. When the fast is over, you should have a new spiritual strength from overcoming the cravings that usually control your life and dedicating yourself to God. You know some of the most prevalent and misunderstood things that keep people from running with purpose and certainty are the toxic thoughts and lethal strongholds within their souls—memories of painful experiences, destructive habits, emotional attachment, misplaced desires, limiting beliefs, and narrow objectives undermine purpose, meaning, and lasting fulfillment. Unaddressed, these things will cause you to go through life feeling weighted down.

  Restricting Television and Media. It will be difficult for you to consecrate yourself if you feed yourself on television and movies surfing internet, texting, talking on the phone and video games during this time. Cut off or Limit you your time of media exposure (ok to use media during work) use this time to seek the Lord

While Fasting •Read large section of : •Mark Significant sections for further study •Meditate on key scripture ( think and rethink scripture to identify biblical principles to be used in seeking Gods will) •Turn scripture into personal prayer •Select verses to memorize •Make Melody in your heart (sing or read Christian hymns)

Foods to include in your diet during the Daniel Fast:

All fruits: These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned. Fruits include but are not limited to apples, apricots, bananas, blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, cantaloupe, cherries, cranberries, figs, grapefruit, grapes, guava, honeydew melon, kiwi, lemons, limes, mangoes, nectarines, oranges, papayas, peaches, pears, pineapples, plums, prunes, raisins, raspberries, strawberries, tangelos, tangerines, watermelon

All vegetables: These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned. Vegetables include but are not limited to artichokes, asparagus, beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chili peppers, collard greens, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, ginger root, kale, leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, mustard greens, okra, onions, parsley, potatoes, radishes, rutabagas, scallions, spinach, sprouts, squashes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, turnips, watercress, yams, zucchini, veggie burgers are an option if you are not allergic to soy.

All whole grains, including but not limited to whole wheat, brown rice, millet, quinoa, oats, barley, grits, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat tortillas, rice cakes and popcorn.

All nuts and seeds: including but not limited to sunflower seeds, cashews, peanuts, sesame. Also nut butters including peanut butter.

All legumes: These can be canned or dried. Legumes include but are not limited to dried beans, pinto beans, split peas, lentils, black eyed peas, kidney beans, black beans, cannellini beans, white beans.

All quality oils including but not limited to olive, canola, grape seed, peanut, and sesame.

Beverages: spring water, distilled water or other pure waters.

Other: tofu, soy products, vinegar, seasonings, salt, herbs and spices.

Foods to avoid on this Soul and Physical Fast

All meat and animal products including but not limited to beef, lamb, pork, poultry, and fish.

All dairy products including but not limited to milk, cheese, cream, butter, and eggs.

All sweeteners including but not limited to sugar, raw sugar, honey, syrups, molasses, and cane juice.

All leavened bread including Ezekiel Bread (it contains yeast and honey) and baked goods.

All refined and processed foods products including but not limited to artificial flavorings, food additives, chemicals, white rice, white flour, and foods that contain artificial preservatives.

All deep fried foods including but not limited to potato chips, French fries, corn chips.

All solid fats including shortening, margarine, lard and foods high in fat.

Beverages including but not limited to coffee, tea, herbal teas, carbonated beverages, energy drinks, and alcohol.

Daniel Fast Meal Preparation Tips

Plan a meal preparation day – With our busy schedules these days, making meals from scratch can be a challenge. Yet on the Daniel Fast, you will avoid most packaged meals because of all the additives they include. Use one day a week as primary meal preparation day. Here are the easy steps:

1. Plan My Meals For The Week In The Kitchen Where You Can See What Ingredients You Have And Can Make Use Of Items On Hand.

2. Plan Your Meals, Write You’re Shopping List

3. Hit The Grocery Stores (Stocking Up On Any Foods That Are On Sale That I Use Frequently, Including The Ready-To-Eat Boxed Organic Soups, Canned Beans, And Frozen Vegetables).

4. Wash, Trim And Store All My Fresh Vegetables So They Are Ready To Make Salads During The Week. This Is A Huge Timesaver.

5. In The Kitchen Put On Some Great Music Or Listen To The Audio Bible While You Cook Soups, Sauces, Casseroles And Other Dishes For The Next Week’s Meals. Also Double Recipes That Freeze Well.

Get Creative, Invest Time That Pays Major Dividends Later in the Week and And It’s A Very Spiritual Time as Listen to the Word and Talk to God While Preparing Meals.

More Tips

Make your meals somewhat lighter for a few days leading up to your fast. Avoid distractions. This is a sacred time between you and God, so avoid secular TV or radio shows. Start off with an unselfish prayer several times during the day. Spend time with God and in studying the Bible. Envision and create goals and work on plans to enrich and improve the quality of your life. Pray often. Increase the frequency of your daily prayer time by a factor of 5 or more. Ask for God's guidance in your life. The fast can continue indefinitely if need be. Avoid sugars, sodas, cake, ice cream and other products with sugar. Make your meals vegetables, salads, fruit, whole grains, and water. If you are experiencing weakness or headaches, drink at least 8 or more glasses of water each day. Often, we do not understand just how much our body needs water, especially when fasting. Understand that fasting is a very personal thing between you and God. Be sure to make time to pray to become closer to Him. Keep your diet simple. Avoid highly processed foods in favor of simply prepared or raw foods. During the time of fasting, you will face temptations; resist them in the name of Jesus Christ. When you have finished fasting, eat light meals and slowly build back up to your normal diet.
